I am sixteen and am wondering how I can build up muscle without buying expensive equipment?

Thanks for dropping by our muscle building blog! You'll find a lot of good stuff here, but we're not as organized as we should be, so you might have to dig a bit! You'll find body building tips, product reviews, fitness ideas, and even the occasional muscle supplement review.

I don't have a lot of dough to spend on a home gym and what are some ways to build muscle at home without equipment?
Use your body weight against gravity - push-ups, handstand push ups, squat lift, Roman fly. Get a chin up bar and a barbell.

Ever heard of 2 minute abs? It's a great way to strengthen and tone all over. Also yoga is great to build lean muscle. To do 2 minute abs …
20 seconds in upright push-up position
20 seconds in lowered arm push-up position
20 seconds on the side — balance on your feet and and arm with your body straight
20 seconds back to 1st position
20 seconds other side
20 seconds lowered push-up
(as 20 seconds becomes easy… work yourself up 10 seconds more in each position at a time)
Also, pull-ups are great. And you can also learn to walk on your hands. Do wall sits to strengthen your legs.

Do some googling… er um Yahoo'ing… on "bodyweight exercises". Also, check out some of the fitness sites out there:

Make sure you look into the nutrition aspects of bodybuilding as well. This will include eating the right foods (good carbs, plenty of protein, fiber).
Building muscle is a huge topic, and there are volumes and volumes of books on it, and hundreds of sites. The best thing to do is take your time and study as much info as possible.
If you can afford it, or can convince your parents, I'd highly recommend joining a gym and working, at least for a while, with a good trainer. Gyms have all the equipment to keep your workouts varied, and to give your muscles the challenges they need to grow.
But, you can make progress at home. Just learn as much as you can before jumping in head first.

The muscles on the upper part of the body can be developed through weight training with dumb bells. Leg muscles can be built by doing squats or sprinting. You can find more information on building muscles at http://www.toloseweight.org/muscle.html
